Come and Meet Me in the Middle of the Air

This is my latest work.  It is the second in my Heaven and Earth Series and is titled "Come and Meet Me in the Middle of the Air".   It is my rendering of a nebula.  Worked in my usual hand dyed silk thread, I have added some bronze wing pigeon feathers for texture.

Marta this piece of work is really exceptional, it actually shimmers like a nebula does ( I've only seen pictures in books/the net)and you haven't used sequins or metallic thread.

Thank you Embellisher. I tried to convey the starry brilliance of a nebula without resorting to too much "bling". Just shows how you can create the most interesting images using simple fabric and thread. The feathers really do add an extra dimension that helped me achieve my vision.

This is not to say that I do not use beads and metallic thread (which I adore) when I feel they are needed. Anything that helps me achieve the image I want is employed enthusiastically. I hope you'll stop by my blog again in the future.

I'm guessing that you based this on the V838 Monocerotis light echo:

Yes, Spot ON! (Not that I knew it was the V838 Monocerotis light echo. I just looked for images of nebulae on the web and this one caught my eye).

I checked out your blog, but it seems you are just starting out. I'll be checking back to see what you are doing.

Thanks for dropping by my blog
